The questline was only added to the main game in a later free DLC. You must have this installed to start the quest.
- The quest provides all the schematics for the basic version of the wolf armor. This is located at level 14.
- The quest does not appear in the overview until you have accidentally found part of the armor.
- The questline is set in Kaer Morhen, so you won't be able to start the quest until you're back with Geralt later in the story.

The start of the quest and the first diagrams can be found at the signal tower.
- On the south of the main gate of the Kaer Morhen fortress you can see the ruins of the signal tower on a hill.
- Climb onto the first wall there and then over the ladder to the first floor. In the chest there you will find notes that start the quest.
- Climb down the ladder. Use the witch sense to examine the wall opposite.
- You can recharge the crystal there with the Aard symbol, which creates a flickering portal.
- On the wooden frame next to the signal tower you will find another crystal that you have to bring to the portal. You can also charge it with Aard.
- Go through the portal and kill the Level 23 appearance. Here you can see the first diagrams.

Next, go looking for the steel sword in the bastion.
- Ride to the bastion west of the Kaer Morhen fortress.
- Take the right entrance there. In a chest you will then find the scheme for the Wolf steel sword.
- Warning: The entire bastion is littered with some Level 23 appearances.

The last scheme can be found in the northwest corner of Kaer Morhen.
- If you have already discovered the boathouse in the main quest, use a sailboat to drive there.
- Alternatively, you can ride along the western coast.
- In the watchtower you have to kill an apparition and then you can take the last scheme from the chest.
