Turn markup off permanently in Word
Turning markup off permanently in Microsoft Word is a bit tricky. But it's possible:
- To do this, you must find the "Normal.dotm" file on your computer. On Windows, this is usually stored in the folder "C: \ Users \\ AppData \ Roaming \ Microsoft \ Templates". Under MacOS in "~ / Library / Application Support / Microsoft / Office / User Templates".
- Then open the Normal.dotm in Word.
- Select "View"> "Markup" in the menu bar. How to temporarily turn off markup.
- Now save the file in the ".dotm" file format at any location and close Word.
- Rename the originals "Normal.dotm" to "NormalBACKUP.dotm".
- Then move the newly created file into this folder and name the new file "Normal.dotm".
- If you start Word now, the checkmark at "View"> "Markup" is automatically deactivated.
