Uninstall XAMPP completely - Here's how
There are a few steps you need to take to completely uninstall the XAMPP tool. Learn in this practical tip how the complete deinstallation works on Windows and Linux Ubuntu.
Uninstall XAMPP completely from Windows - so it'll work
To completely uninstall XAMPP on Windows:
- First download and install the free Revo Uninstaller tool.
- Start the tool after installation and wait until the list of installed programs is complete.
- Double click on "XAMPP" and select "Advanced" as uninstall method.
- Just follow the instructions to uninstall XAMPP from PC.
- Afterwards you have to click on "Next" to search for remaining files and folders as well as registry entries.
- If they are found, mark them all and delete them from the PC with the "Delete" button.
- Once the uninstallation process has been successfully completed, you should restart your PC.
XAMPP on Windows: Problems with the deinstallation?
XAMPP runs several services in the background. You may have to close them before you can completely uninstall the program.
- Open the Task Manager with the key combination [STR] + [SHIFT] + [ESC].
- Switch to the "Services" tab.
- Find the services "APACHE" and "MYSQL" and close them with a right click and "Stop service".
Uninstall XAMPP completely from Linux - so it'll work
Uninstalling is easier on Linux. You just have to delete the installation folder.
- Log in with root rights under Linux or Ubuntu.
- Then it is sufficient to delete the directory "/ opt / lampp /".
- You can use the file manager or the command line for this. Afterwards you should restart the PC here as well.
