If you want to watch videos on YouTube on the go, you should be aware of the data consumption beforehand. We show you which sizes you can count on.
Data usage from YouTube videos
The respective data consumption of YouTube largely depends on the selected video quality. You can choose it yourself:
- To do this, start a video on YouTube and tap the button with the three dots at the top right. Now you can select the "Quality" category.
- At the lowest quality (144p), a 10-minute video consumes around 5 MB. At the next higher quality level (240p) around 25 MByte are used. Look at 360p, 10 minutes cost about 50 MB.
- The consumption at 480p is around 75 MB, in HD the videos add up to 720p with at least 200 MB per 10 minutes. The step to Full HD at 1080p is also not far at around 280 MB.
- Note that the menu and YouTube search can consume several MBytes.
